Sin Hoi Sai

Rating: 8/10

Operating Hours: Closes at 3 AM

Location: 187 East Coast Road

Sin Hoi Sai is a beloved gem near Katong offering mouth-watering Chinese cuisine. Sin Hoi Sai sells zichar, with my personal favorites include the sweet and sour pork rice and the beef Hokkien mee. However, my usual order is the beef fried rice paired with an Ai Yu jelly drink. The seafood here is exceptionally fresh, rivalling even the popular Newton Food Centre that I also frequent for their seafood. My personal standout dishes are their la la and stingray, amongst many others. Whenever I bring my friends here, their comments are usually,”When are we coming here again?” The friendly staff also enhanced my experience—I’ll never forget the time they offered to help me park my car! With meals averaging $10, Sin Hoi San will not fail to deliver a satisfying supper experience.

Fei Fei Wanton Mee

Rating: 7/10

Operating Hours: Open 24 hours

Location: 45 Joo Chiat Pl, Singapore 427769

Fei Fei Wanton Mee is my late-night go-to meal when other options are limited. Despite its location being slightly inconvenient (not particularly near to any MRT), the delicious wanton mee and soup make the trip worthwhile, especially on an empty stomach. My usual order includes a large bowl of wanton mee, with less salt and a calamansi drink. Which costs around $12. The flavours melt in your mouth and it’s unlike any wanton you have ever tried before. They are consistent in their quality as I have been patronising them for around five years.

Takagi Ramen (Bedok)

Rating: 7.7/10

Operating Hours: Open 24H

Location: Bedok North Street 1 #01-355, Block 206, Singapore (460206)

Takagi Ramen attracts me due to their affordability—just five to six dollars for a filling bowl of ramen with the option of free noodles to add on. The broth is extremely fragrant, the egg cooked to perfection, and the ramen quality is comparable with pricier competitors like Ajisen Ramen. The Japanese ambience adds to the dining experience, though it can get cold late at night (bring a jacket), the warm soup definitely provides comfort. The service is mostly automated with kiosks, so it’s perfect for introverts.

Ponggol Nasi Lemak (Katong)

Rating: 7.4/10

Operating Hours: Closes at 11:30PM

Location: 238 Tanjong Katong Rd

For Nasi Lemak lovers, I cannot recommend Ponggol Nasi Lemak more. It is a must-visit, every ingredient, from the fragrant coconut rice to the crunchy ikan bilis, is top-notch. My usual order is peanuts, cucumber, chicken, luncheon meat, fish cake, otah and egg. However, this place closes at 11.30pm and meals cost from $7 all the way to $12. Parking is free after 7:30PM. However, it is a hit or miss during dinner hours but becomes readily available after 10PM. Its proximity to Dakota MRT (two bus stops away) adds to its convenience.

Supa Deck (Supper Deck) (Bedok)

Rating: 6.8/10

Operating Hours: Closes at 2 AM

Location: Simpang Bedok, 298 Bedok Rd, Singapore 469454

Supa Deck never fails to satisfy my palate with their mouthwatering halal burgers, their Deck Burger is usually my top pick. While their unique flavours are attractive and innovative, the prices are steep—$17.90 for a single-patty burger feels unreasonable when compared to premium burger outlets like Five Guys, which burgers are around the same price. However, at 1AM, which good burger spot is open? The location at Simpang Bedok is best accessed by car or bike due to limited public transport options. The atmosphere and service are average, but if you’re craving burgers late at night, Supa Deck is an amazing choice.
