Cue the Drama: The Phantom’s Back

For those lucky enough to have snagged their seats already, dust off your fanciest fit and get ready to watch a goated masterpiece take centre stage. At the Sands Theatre at Marina Bay Sands, The Phantom of the Opera is on from 9 May to 15 June 2025. 

The 37-year-old musical will be brought to life by a global cast hailing all the way from the United States, South Africa and Australia. Jonathan Roxmouth will take on the role of the titular Phantom while Grace Roberts stars as the female protagonist, Christine.

As Broadway’s longest-running musical, it has bagged more than 70 big-name theatre awards and 160 million viewers from nearly 50 territories. Notably, in 1988, it won a Tony Award for Best Musical.

The piece by Andrew Lloyd Webber will be directed by Phantom Associate Director Rainer Fried for this production. He is joined by Music Supervisor Kristen Blodgette and Associate Choreographer Denny Berry.

The Phantom of the Opera follows the story of a man whose face card declined (hence, the mask) living in the mysterious underbelly of an opera house. He becomes obsessed with a soprano and, consumed by jealousy, kidnaps her to live with him in his eerie lair.
