Want to spice up your Instagram feed with aesthetic ideas but think Singapore is boring? Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered!
Here are some of the most stylish spots on our little red dot that will instantly elevate your feed.
Design Orchard
Just a stone’s throw from Somerset MRT (NS23), Design Orchard stands tall with its sleek, industrial-chic vibe. It's a go-to for Gen Zs to snap effortlessly cool fit pictures against its iconic concrete backdrop.
Awkward in front of the camera? Fret not!
Use the pole as a prop by leaning casually against it or rest your arm on it for that effortless look.
You can also go for the trending top-down shot: sit cross-legged on the pavement and have your photographer snap a photo from directly above.
Emerald Hill
Cross the road from Design Orchard and you’ll find yourself surrounded by a vibrant row of Peranakan shophouses. The intricate patterns and bold pops of colour on the facades are absolutely stunning.
My photographer took candids of me walking back and forth along the street. Sure, it looked like I was inspecting the houses, but the photos were totally worth it.
You can choose to chill on the steps and strike a pose: lean back with your hands resting behind, or even pretend you’re tying your shoelace for a natural look.
National Gallery
As you stroll along Parliament Place, you’ll spot a massive, black door that spans the length of the building. Sitting just beneath it are marble steps that give off old-money, historical drama.
I tried some simple poses that worked really well for the vibe!
Sit on the upper step with your arms, resting on your knees. Relax your shoulders and smile! It's laid-back and effortlessly cool.
Prefer to stand? Just cross your arms and smile!
CHIJMES
Though it’s actually a church, its gothic arches and European courtyard aesthetic scream fairytale, especially at golden hour.
I kept it fun with candid poses, like smiling while crossing my arms. You can totally play around too!
Walk, twirl, laugh… don’t be shy. The stunning backdrop does all the work, so just have fun in front of the camera.
Jinrikisha Station
Just across Maxwell MRT (TE18), this building gives off vintage charm with its rustic brick walls and timeless architecture.
I went during golden hour, so the soft sunlight gave me a natural glow! I played around with simple poses like lifting my hair and placing my hands in my pocket.
Even just leaning casually against the pillar worked! The warm, vintage backdrop did wonders for my shots!
