Your Guide to Authentic Ticketing
Ever heard of ticket scam horror stories? You might be relieved you weren’t the victim, but you could be some day. Here’s how to avoid getting scammed!
What is Ticket Scalping?
Ticket scalping happens when people buy tickets in bulk — often using bots — and resell them at inflated prices. These resellers then list these tickets at astronomically high prices on domains like Carousell and Viagogo, sometimes charging double or even triple the original price.
Crackdowns on Scalping
You know the scalping situation is bad when not only organisations are cracking down on it, but artists as well.
Korean actor Park Bo Gum recently took to his X account to call out individuals reselling his tour tickets, even cheekily shaming them by using emojis and responding in their native languages.
Here’s his response to a reseller in Bahasa Indonesia: (refer to image below)
“Eh bro, you're not supposed to resell this. Do you really want to sell it?”

Tickets scammers aren’t restricted to concerts; even events like F1 are prime targets. The F1 Night Race Instagram account recently made this statement prior to the 2025 Singapore Grand Prix:
“⚠️ Tickets found to have been acquired from unofficial sources will be voided without refund or compensation, and ticketholders will be denied entry into the Circuit Park.”
So, where should you buy tickets?
If you’re wondering where to safely snag your next concert or event ticket, here are some reliable platforms to check out:
1. Ticketmaster
As one of the most popular ticketing platforms in Singapore, Ticketmaster is the go-to for most events and artists.
Here’s a tip: If you’re buying tickets off someone, you can actually transfer tickets cross-accounts on Ticketmaster! That way, you know your tickets are legit.

4. Klook
At first glance, Klook’s concert listings might look purely promotional since many redirect you to Ticketmaster’s website.
However, when major celebrities like Taylor Swift perform in Singapore, Klook often offers ticket bundles whereby concert tickets are paired with hotel stays and extra benefits. Keep an eye out for these deals! Who knows, your next concert experience could come with a night of luxury.

I know it’s difficult to beat the bots and fast fingers of scalpers. But with organisations and even artists cracking down on resellers, it's always safer to acquire your tickets the legit way. After all, you don’t wanna splurge on your ticket only to be denied entry at the gate…
Buy responsibly, and happy ticketing!
