GrabPay card bids farewell

Starting 1 June, Grab is pulling the plug on its GrabPay Card. The digital and physical cards will no longer work for any transactions, whether online or offline. It’s time to find an alternative if you have been using your GrabPay Card for your favourite boba or late-night snacks!

Launched in 2019 as Asia’s first numberless card by Grab and Mastercard, the GrabPay Card has been all about security. The card’s details are stored in the Grab app, and can be locked instantly. However, Grab is saying goodbye to the card as part of a shift in their financial services strategy.

Grab noticed that more people were using other features like PayLater and the GrabPay e-wallet, as part of the rising trend in the Fintech industry.  They decided to put in more effort on existing strongholds to improve services for customers. Whilst the GrabPay Card is headed to the history books, the e-wallet and PayLater are here for the long run.

Even though the cards are being discontinued, your GrabPay Wallet balance is safe and sound. You can keep using it for all your Grab transactions and at partner merchants. Grab is also helping out with any ongoing issues or disputes involving the card until 30 September.

So what's next? Grab mentioned that users in Singapore can now sign up and get on the waitlist for an account and debit card from GXS, a digital bank by Grab and Singtel.

While we say goodbye to the GrabPay Card, it’s exciting to see where Grab is heading next. Thanks for the memories, GrabPay Card, and here’s to the future with Grab’s new financial services!
