Night Safari turns 30!

Can you recall the last time you visited the Night Safari? If that memory feels distant, it might be a sign for you to revisit. Night Safari is commemorating its 30th Anniversary this year. From 24 May to 8 September 2024, there are many exciting deals and activities waiting for you!

The Night Safari Story

In 1987, the then Prime Minister of Singapore, Mr Goh Chok Tong, enjoyed a night tour at the zoo so much that he brought up the idea of having regular night tours. The idea was being explored as many tropical animals are nocturnal. Thus, showcasing their behaviour in the jungle at night would allow people to experience being part of the wildlife.

The concept was brought to real life in 1989, where visitors embarked on a tram journey and drove through habitats. Moats were used as habitat barrels and the lighting provided mimicked moonlight. This led to the opening of the Night Safari in 1994 and it continues to run till now, welcoming over a million of visitors each year.

Night Safari’s 30th Anniversary

This year’s theme is “From Past to Present”, where visitors would get to embark on a magical time travel experience. However, it’s not all about looking back! The Night Safari has some exciting new additions to explore along the safari trails.
