K-pop Concert in Cinema: The Next Best Thing
It’s not live, but it still feels real. Here’s why fans are turning up for K-pop concerts on the big screen.
Attended the Cine Fest Asia online concert screening featuring Seventeen, hosted by HYBE.
K-pop fans in Singapore are now heading to cinemas not for films, but for concerts. These online K-pop concerts are official replays of past performances, screened with booming sound, HD visuals, and yes, free photocards.
What began during the pandemic as livestreamed shows has turned into a shared fan experience. Imagine watching your favourite group on the big screen, lightstick in hand, surrounded by fellow fans. It's the closest thing to a real concert, minus the high ticket prices.
Each screening comes with its own vibe, so it’s good to go with an open mind. Some crowds are super hyped, while others are more chill. Don’t expect everyone to scream or wave lightsticks but when the energy hits right, it’s magical.
Most screenings also give out photocards on a first-come, first-served basis and yes, trading happens too!
First-Timer Tips:
Arrive early to claim your freebies
Bring a charged lightstick, it’s allowed!
Dress comfy and go with friends for max fun
Check cinema rules on cheering or filming beforehand
Come with light expectations, every crowd is different!
